My Journey

As an emerging intuitive artist, I’m always looking for opportunities to translate what I experience into my art. I have mainly worked in the financial industry most of my working life but I have never given up on drawing. I am very happy to now be in a position to be able to truly pursue my love of creating abstract art.

Since 2017 I’ve led a life of art experimentation and have found watercolors and pen & ink to be my tools and maps, birds eye views, color splashes & circles in many guises my subjects. As I have progressed I have leaned towards creating imagined landscapes based on unexpected circles and paths with hatching in ink layered in. Some of my pieces have turned out looking like a journey of concentric circles.

When I think about why I create, I immediately think of the challenge of a blank canvas and the emerging story that it will tell as it progresses. I may have something in mind or not, but as I work I let my imagination flow and my eye guide me.

For me, as the piece grows it reveals its secrets, its voice and its energy. This energy then drives me, my imagination and awareness.

My pieces tend to start without a plan, subject or idea but there have been many times when I have challenged myself with boundaries. I let my paint start the story and my imagination builds the piece with layers, colors, abstract marks, intricate patterns, line drawing and anything else that calls to me.

Recently, I have started to introduce subject layers into my art and I have found this a very pleasing addition.

The finished piece could be an imagined landscape, a story or even a map.
